The robotic tram debuted in Moscow as part of a broader initiative to advance smart mobility and promote environmental sustainability.
According to Moscow’s Deputy Mayor, Maxim Liksutov, the tram completed 3,200 kilometers of rigorous testing, demonstrating the effectiveness of its advanced AI systems. These systems have shown a high capacity to perform tasks typically handled by human drivers. The tests delivered remarkable results within the Krasnopresnensky network in the Strogino district of the capital, marking the second phase of trials ahead of the tram’s official launch.
Liksutov also noted that a second smart tram has entered its final testing phase, with its operational debut expected soon. The trials revealed no malfunctions or performance issues, and the autonomous driving system has proven capable of avoiding traffic violations, paving the way for full reliance on its self-driving capabilities.
