Season 3 of Squid Game Set for Release in 2025 with Exciting Return of Gi-hun Character

The creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has revealed a potential release window for the highly anticipated third and final season. In an interview with The Independent, he confirmed the season is expected to air sometime between the summer and fall of 2025.

Following the massive success of the first season in 2021, the second season of the South Korean series debuted last December. The show follows hundreds of financially struggling individuals as they compete in deadly games for a life-changing cash prize.

Season three will see the return of actor Lee Jung-Jae as Seong Gi-hun, player 456, who is determined to put an end to the deadly competition once and for all.

While the second season garnered praise for its new characters and story developments, its ending sparked debate among viewers, with some criticizing its conclusion. In a recent interview, Hwang acknowledged the controversial ending, explaining that it serves as a transition to the next phase of the story.

Although he refused to reveal specific details about the upcoming season, Hwang shared that he initially intended for season two to consist of 8 to 9 episodes. However, he said, "Once I finished the story, it turned out to be over 10 episodes, which I felt was too much to fit into one season." He emphasized that the intention was to wrap up season two in a way that would seamlessly lead into season three, where Gi-hun will grapple with a deep sense of guilt and failure.
