Meta has announced the launch of a new feature for WhatsApp aimed at strengthening its competition with calendar apps like Google Calendar. This feature allows users to manage and organize events directly within individual chats, significantly changing the way appointments and meetings are scheduled on the app.
Currently, the feature is available to users enrolled in the WhatsApp beta through the Google Play Store, with plans to roll it out to all users in the near future.
The new functionality lets users schedule events, set reminders, and coordinate personal appointments within one-on-one chats, a feature that was previously only available in group chats and communities. Users will also be able to link events to voice or video calls and invite others to the events, with options to accept or decline invitations.
The full rollout of this feature is expected to take several weeks or months, as it is still in the testing phase.
