Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit related to Siri and alleged violations of user privacy, according to a report by Newsweek, cited by Al Arabiya Business.
The lawsuit stems from claims that Siri recorded private conversations without consent and, in some cases, shared those recordings with third parties.
The settlement follows public criticism after a 2019 Guardian investigation revealed that Apple contractors listened to confidential Siri recordings, including some involving sensitive medical information.
Apple later issued a public apology and stated that it would no longer retain such recordings. The company denies all wrongdoing and maintains that no unlawful conduct occurred, despite agreeing to the $95 million settlement in January.
