Oblivion Fans Demand the Remaster Keeps the Original Voice Lines

Oblivion Fans Demand the Remaster Keeps the Original Voice Lines

When you think of Oblivion, what comes to mind? For many of us, it’s the NPCs – and all their dialogues. In fact, it’s so iconic that the Skyblivion project, an unofficial remake of Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion, will reuse those lines, because without them, Oblivion wouldn’t feel authentic.

But what about the official Oblivion Remaster, which is said to be in production? Fans are hoping the voices in the remaster will be exactly the same as the original game. On Reddit, players have made it clear that they want the original voice cast in the redesigned version because, simply put, Oblivion wouldn’t be Oblivion without hearing Wes Johnson’s voice constantly.

The discussion started after Wes Johnson, Bethesda’s veteran voice actor, responded to a post mentioning a possible Oblivion Remaster. He didn’t reveal any details about the project, but his acknowledgment sparked excitement among fans, fueling their hope that his voice would be part of the new game.

Reddit user Greasy-Chungus says: "It’s best if they leave the voice acting and music alone." Many others agree. inverted-womb adds: "I’d prefer Oblivion without Oblivion Gates over Oblivion without Wes Johnson."

If there are changes, players hope they’ll be minimal and enhance the game rather than detract from it. BlueMilk_and_Wookies suggests: "It’s fine to keep all the original dialogue lines, but maybe cast some new actors for some variety in characters like the guards and bandits, as long as all the original characters are still there."

Aggressive_Rope_4201 sums it up best: "Oblivion without Wes Johnson isn’t Oblivion." For now, we await confirmation of the enhanced version, or even its official release if the Shadowdrop rumors are true. The game could drop as early as next week, so we might be hearing those classic voices again very soon.
