How Can Breathing Transform Your Health Future?

In a breakthrough finding within recent medical research, Canadian expert Janine Bowering, with over 25 years of experience in health and wellness, has confirmed that controlling one's daily breathing rate may hold the key to a longer life.

Bowering shared this insight in a video posted on her Instagram account. In it, she explained that the average adult breathes 15 to 20 times per minute, which she described as excessive and unhealthy. She suggested that reducing this rate to around 5.5 breaths per minute could help promote a longer lifespan and improve overall health.

Drawing from the animal kingdom to illustrate her point, Bowering highlighted that creatures with slower breathing rates, like dolphins, tend to live longer than those with faster breathing rates, such as mice, whose breathing rate can reach up to 250 breaths per minute, which may explain their shorter lifespan. She also pointed out that stress plays a significant role in increasing breathing rates, making practices such as meditation and yoga effective methods for reducing stress and slowing down breathing, ultimately benefiting both mental and physical health.

Further studies led researchers to compare these conditions to oxygen levels in high-altitude regions like the summit of Mount Everest. They found that people living in areas with lower oxygen levels tend to live longer and enjoy better health, reinforcing the importance of adopting slow breathing techniques as a simple yet effective step toward a longer and more balanced life.
