WhatsApp is set to roll out a new feature that will allow users to search for images directly on the web soon

This new feature will allow users to upload an image directly to the Google search engine to check if the image already exists online, helping to verify images and ensure they have not been altered.

The feature is particularly aimed at images that are shared repeatedly, which often lose their context and associated information. According to "WABetaInfo," a website focused on WhatsApp updates, this tool will allow users to search for information about an image directly within the WhatsApp Web app, without needing to download or manually upload the image to Google.

Simply put, by clicking on any image in the WhatsApp web version and selecting "Search the image on the web," the feature will automatically upload the image to Google and initiate a search in the browser. This will enable users to trace the source of the image and verify its authenticity, enhancing security and helping to uncover misleading or edited content all without leaving the app.

According to the specialized website, the feature is expected to be rolled out soon in an update for the WhatsApp Web version.
