Meta Introduces New Enhancements to 'Meta AI' Assistant for Remembering Conversation Details Across Its Platforms

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has unveiled new improvements to its AI-powered assistant, "Meta AI," which now includes the ability to remember conversation details across its social media platforms.

In a blog post, the company explained that users will now be able to instruct "Meta AI" on platforms like Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp to remember specific details about them, such as their interests in travel or learning new languages.

Meta also noted that this feature will be available to users on iOS and Android devices in the United States and Canada, allowing the AI assistant to store important contextual details.

According to a report by TechCrunch, this functionality mirrors memory features found in other chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. For instance, if a user mentioned in a previous conversation with "Meta AI" that they are vegetarian and later asked for breakfast ideas, the assistant would factor this preference into its suggestions.

Meta confirmed that "Meta AI" will not retain information from group chats, and users will have the option to delete any stored details at any time.

The company also revealed that "Meta AI" will now leverage user information available from their accounts across Meta’s apps to provide personalized recommendations, such as home location data from Facebook or recently viewed videos on Instagram.
